Things to know<\/div>

A WordPress child theme allows customizing the changeable elements of the parent's theme (e.g., the theme's appearance, layout, CSS codes, custom functions, scripts, or other functionality) without losing the changes after the parent's theme update.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

You can install any WordPress theme (both parent and child) by uploading a corresponding zip file, using a child-generation plugin to create the child-theme, or when installing dynamic templates<\/a> using the Crocoblock Wizard<\/em><\/a> plugin. For more details about installing the theme, such as Crocoblock\u2019s default Kava<\/a> theme, refer to the How to Install Kava Theme<\/strong> via WordPress Dashboard<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>tutorial. Also, you can install the Kava theme manually<\/a> by downloading it from your Crocoblock account<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Create the Kava Child Theme with the Wizard Plugin<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Proceed to the WordPress Dashboard > Plugins > Add Plugins<\/em><\/strong> tab and press the \u201cUpload Plugin<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, perform the necessary actions to install the required content. In the corresponding step, select the preferred theme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, pick the \u201cUse child theme\u201d option and complete the installation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this tutorial, we download the Kava child theme from the Crocoblock account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, move to WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > Themes<\/em><\/strong> and press the \u201cAdd Theme<\/strong>\u201d button. Next, upload the child theme zip file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After that, click the \u201cInstall Now<\/strong>\u201d button and then activate the needed theme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Create a WordPress Child Theme Using Plugins<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Install and activate the child-generation plugin. In this case, we use the free WordPress Child Theme Generator<\/em> plugin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once activated, the plugin adds the WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > Child Themes Gens<\/em><\/strong> tab. In this tab, Select a theme<\/strong> in the corresponding drop-down list. Then tick the required options and click the \u201cCreate Child Theme<\/strong>\u201d button. In this case, we generate a Hello Elementor Child theme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After that, the corresponding heading will be shown at the top of the tab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
