In this tutorial, we demonstrate a case of adding reviews to posts using the Reviews Listing<\/strong> widget\/block. In particular, the review can include some fields, grades, and average data. Also, we explain how to manage the collected reviews (e.g., delete, approve, edit) to allow the reviews to be displayed.<\/p>\n\n\n

Create a New Review Type<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Navigate to the WordPress Dashboard and open JetReviews > Review Types<\/em><\/strong>.<\/strong> Click the \u201cAdd New<\/strong>\u201d button at the top of the page. Then, fill out the needed fields in the newly appeared Add New Review Type<\/strong> page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, we enter the Name<\/strong> (the \u201cReviews for Posts,\u201d in this case), and after that, the Slug<\/strong> field is filled out automatically. Next, we set the \u201cUser\u201d Source<\/strong> and the \u201cWP User\u201d option in the Source Type<\/strong> drop-down list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Things to know<\/div>

To add reviews to CPT<\/strong> posts, select the \u201cPost\u201d Source<\/strong> and the needed CPT in the Source Type<\/strong> drop-down list.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In the next step, we move to the Advanced Settings<\/strong> section and press the \u201cAdd New Field<\/strong>\u201d button.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After that, we fill out the Label<\/strong>, Step<\/strong>, and Max Value<\/strong> fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Press the \u201cAdd New Field<\/strong>\u201d button to add another field for a multi-field review. Define who can add reviews in the Allowed roles<\/strong> bar and set the options according to your needs. Here, in addition to the default ones, we add the \u201cGuest\u201d role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, to allow displaying reviews without pre-moderation of the admin, turn on the New review approval<\/strong> toggle and the Upload media<\/strong> toggle. After that, the Allowed media<\/strong> field will open, showing the pre-set media file formats. Since we do not intend to limit visitors with formats, we keep the default ones. Also, the Max upload file size(MB)<\/strong> text field will be added. Here, we keep the default value at \u201c5\u201d Mb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you are done, hit the \u201cCreate<\/strong>\/Update<\/strong> Review Type<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Add Reviews to Posts<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To add the reviews to a post, open the needed one in the editor you prefer. In this case, we use Elementor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once opened, find the Reviews Listing<\/strong> widget and drag and drop it to the page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u201cPosts\u201d option in the Source<\/strong> drop-down list is set by default. Since we created the review for users, the widget\u2019s settings should be adjusted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adjust the Reviews Listing Settings<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Settings<\/strong> tab is unrolled by default. Here, we select the \u201cUsers\u201d Source<\/strong> for reviews, \u201cStars\u201d Rating Layou<\/strong>t<\/strong>, \u201cStars\u201d Rating Input Type<\/strong>, and \u201cAverage\u201d Review Rating Type<\/strong> (\u201cAverage\u201d or \u201cDefault\u201d).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After that, the widget changes its view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, we type the number of Reviews per Page<\/strong> and keep the Show<\/strong> Review Author Avatar<\/strong>, Show<\/strong> Review Title<\/strong>, Show Review Title Field<\/strong>, Show Review Content Field<\/strong>, and Show<\/strong> Comment Author Avatar<\/strong> toggles enabled by default.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the next step, we keep the default values of the Icons<\/strong> settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, we leave the default values of the Labels<\/strong> settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, we publish the post.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Submit the Review<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Once the post is published, open it on the front end and press the \u201cWrite a review<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, fill out the review fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, fill out the text field, put the needed number of stars in the Grade<\/strong> field, and upload an image.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, scroll the page down and press the \u201cSubmit a review<\/strong>\u201d link.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since we set the pre-moderation of the added reviews, after pressing this link, the review disappears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead, the review is added to the JetReviews <\/em>dashboard in the <\/em>WordPress > JetReviews > All Reviews > Review Lis<\/em>t <\/strong>tab. Here, to display the review on the front end, we press the \u201cApprove<\/strong>\u201d link.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
