{"id":22666,"date":"2022-11-04T21:15:55","date_gmt":"2022-11-04T21:15:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/knowledge-base\/?post_type=article&#038;p=22666"},"modified":"2025-06-27T07:45:25","modified_gmt":"2025-06-27T07:45:25","slug":"jetengine-query-builder-users-query-type","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/knowledge-base\/jetengine\/jetengine-query-builder-users-query-type\/","title":{"rendered":"Query Builder Users Query Type"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>With the \u201cUsers\u201d <strong>Query Type<\/strong>,<strong> <\/strong>available as a part of the <em>JetEngine<\/em>\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/knowledge-base\/features\/query-builder-overview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Query Builder<\/strong><\/a>, a custom query for retrieving WordPress users can be created, allowing only those users who meet the set conditions to be displayed in a <a href=\"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/knowledge-base\/features\/listing-template-in-elementor-overview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Listing template<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The query settings can be found in the <strong><em>WordPress Dashboard > JetEngine > Query Builder <\/em><\/strong>directory. To build a new query, one should press the \u201c<strong>Add New<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Initially, the <strong>General Settings <\/strong>section is presented, which is common for all queries. Here, the \u201cUsers Query\u201d option should be selected now;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Custom Query ID <\/strong>\u2014 the field that should be completed if needed to work with <a href=\"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/plugins\/jetsmartfilters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>JetSmartFilters<\/em><\/a>; it is optional. One can specify the ID here and add the same value to the built filter;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cache Query <\/strong>\u2014 a toggle that is activated by default. It enables caching of the current query. It can be deactivated if one experiences issues with query results;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cache Expires <\/strong>\u2014 a field where one can specify the expiration limit of the cache. By default, the field is empty, and no expiration is applied. This option is only applicable when an external object cache (such as <strong>Redis<\/strong> or <strong>Memcached<\/strong>) is used. Otherwise, the cache is valid only during a single request;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Register Rest API Endpoint <\/strong>\u2014 a toggle that is deactivated by default. When activated, the REST API endpoint can be registered. With this endpoint, one can adjust the public access to this query\u2019s results and allow the retrieval of data. Here, one can select the needed role(s) so that users with such role(s) on the website are included in the query. Mind that every user should match every role picked in this field in order to be queried;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Role In<\/strong> \u2014 a dropdown field that also allows selecting the user roles. But this time, the users who are assigned to at least one of the roles chosen will be added to the list;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Role Not In<\/strong> \u2014 a dropdown field that also allows selecting the user roles.\u00a0 The users assigned to at least one of the roles chosen here will be excluded from the list.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"includeexclude\"><strong>Include\/Exclude<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<p>Here, one can also include or exclude users. Afterward, one should choose the default meta field in the <strong>Search Columns<\/strong> drop-down menu. The typed-in value will be searched in the fields selected in the <strong>Search Columns<\/strong> list. Only users with that value in the chosen fields will be added to the list. One can also set the search rules here (in the <strong>Search <\/strong>field) using the \u201c*\u201d symbol:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u201c*\u201d before the value<\/strong> \u2014 the system will search the values that start with the symbols typed. For example, if the \u201c*a\u201d value is inserted into the bar, all the users that have a value that begins with \u201ca\u201d in the selected field will be added to the list;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u201c*\u201d after the value<\/strong> \u2014 the system will search the values that end with the symbols typed. For example, if the \u201ca*\u201d value is inserted into the bar, all the users that have a value that ends with \u201ca\u201d in the selected field will be added to the list;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u201c*\u201d before and after the value<\/strong> \u2014 the system will search the values that contain symbols typed. For example, if the\u201c*a*\u201d value is inserted into the bar, all the users that have a value that includes \u201ca\u201d in the selected field will be added to the list;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Search Columns<\/strong> \u2014 a dropdown menu that contains all the meta fields attached to the users. Here, the meta field in which to search for the value of the <strong>Search <\/strong>bar should be selected;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Number<\/strong> \u2014 a bar where one can define the number of users that will be added to the list;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Offset<\/strong> \u2014 a field for the number of first posts that won\u2019t be added to the list;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Paged<\/strong> \u2014 a feature that works like there\u2019s pagination added to the list. One can type a number of the page, and all the users that would\u2019ve been shown on that page will be added to the list;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Order By <\/strong>\u2014 a field that allows selecting by what value to order the users in the list;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Order<\/strong> \u2014 \u00a0a field that allows selecting how the users will be ordered, from lowest to highest values or vice versa.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"meta-query\"><strong>Meta Query<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<p>This tab allows adding users to the list based on the values of their meta fields. One sets a value in the <strong>Value <\/strong>text area, and then the data from the meta field selected in the <strong>Field key\/name<\/strong> bar is compared to that value. If they match, the user is added to the list. In this bar, the <a href=\"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/knowledge-base\/articles\/using-the-pre-designed-section-templates-to-display-dynamic-content\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dynamic tags<\/a> feature can be used as well. For instance, we select the \u201cCurrent terms\u201d macro and press the \u201c<strong>Advanced settings<\/strong>\u201d button to set the \u201cQueried User\u201d <strong>Context <\/strong>and fill in the <strong>Fallback <\/strong>field with the desired value (e.g., \u201cNot Found\u201d). So now, the queried posts will be displayed for only the queried user. And once the posts are absent, the fallback \u201cNot Found\u201d will be shown. The <strong>Context <\/strong>and <strong>Fallback<\/strong> can be set for any selected macro;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Compare<\/strong> \u2014 here, one can select how the values will be compared:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Equal <\/strong>\u2014 displays posts having an equal value;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Not Equal<\/strong> \u2014 shows posts that don\u2019t have an equal value;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Greater than<\/strong> \u2014 shows posts that have a greater value. It works with numeric values only;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Greater or equal<\/strong> \u2014 displays posts that have a greater or equal value. It also works only for numeric values;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Less than<\/strong> \u2014 shows posts that have a lesser value. For numeric values only;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Less or equal<\/strong> \u2014 displays posts that have a lesser or equal numeric value;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Like <\/strong>\u2014 shows posts that have the value set in the <strong>Value <\/strong>field mentioned in the content;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Not like<\/strong> \u2014 displays only the posts that don\u2019t have the value put in the <strong>Value <\/strong>field mentioned in the content;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>In the list<\/strong> \u2014 after several values to the <strong>Value <\/strong>field are added, it shows the posts that have at least one of them in their content;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Not in the list<\/strong> \u2014 displays posts that have any values except the ones typed into the <strong>Value <\/strong>field;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Between <\/strong>\u2014 displays posts that contain the value between two, which are set in the <strong>Value <\/strong>field;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Not between<\/strong> \u2014 shows all the posts except the ones that have a value that matches the set interval;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Exist <\/strong>\u2014 shows all the posts that contain the <strong>Key<\/strong>. There is no need to set the <strong>Value <\/strong>in this case;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Not exist<\/strong> \u2014 displays all the posts that don\u2019t include the <strong>Key<\/strong>. There is no need to select the <strong>Value <\/strong>either;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Regexp <\/strong>\u2014 queries users depending on the checkboxes or radio meta field values;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Not regexp <\/strong>\u2014 excludes the mentioned checkboxes or radio value, the query will not take it into account;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Value <\/strong>\u2014 the value set here will be compared to the value of the meta field selected in the <strong>Field key\/name<\/strong> bar.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"note-banner d-flex border-bold border-jetthemecore rounded overflow-hidden p-20\"><div class=\"mr-12\"><svg width=\"24\" height=\"24\" viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\"><path d=\"M9 21C9 21.5 9.4 22 10 22H14C14.6 22 15 21.5 15 21V20H9V21ZM12 2C8.1 2 5 5.1 5 9C5 11.4 6.2 13.5 8 14.7V17C8 17.5 8.4 18 9 18H15C15.6 18 16 17.5 16 17V14.7C17.8 13.4 19 11.3 19 9C19 5.1 15.9 2 12 2Z\" fill=\"#F2D23C\"\/><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"d-flex flex-column\"><div class=\"text-900 mb-12\">Things to know<\/div><p class=\"m-0\">If the \u201cQuery Variable\u201d option is selected in the <strong>Value<\/strong> field, the \u201cExclude this clause from the query if dynamic value is empty\u201d checkbox appears below the <strong>Value<\/strong> field. It can be checked to remove an argument from the query if its macro returns an empty value. However, when this feature is activated, the <strong>Fallback<\/strong> field in the <strong>Advanced Settings<\/strong> of the \u201cQuery Variable\u201d option should be left empty.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Type<\/strong> \u2014 this drop-down allows one to specify what kind of data is stored in the chosen meta field:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Char <\/strong>\u2014 alphabetic data that is not sensitive to case;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Numeric <\/strong>\u2014 whole numbers only;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Date <\/strong>\u2014 date values (be aware, the <strong>Save as timestamp <\/strong>toggle should be enabled in the fields from which the date values are taken);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Datetime <\/strong>\u2014 date and time (be aware, the <strong>Save as timestamp <\/strong>toggle should be activated in the fields from which the date values are taken);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Decimal <\/strong>\u2014 fraction number data;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Time <\/strong>\u2014 time values;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Binary <\/strong>\u2014 data that is sensitive to the case;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Signed <\/strong>\u2014 whole numbers, both positive and negative;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Unsigned <\/strong>\u2014 whole numbers, only positive.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, if one needs to create more complex meta query clauses, the new meta query group can be added by pressing the \u201c<strong>Add new group<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When clicked, one can set the <strong>Relation<\/strong>, \u201cAnd\u201d or \u201cOr.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To edit the group clause, the \u201c<strong>Edit group clauses<\/strong>\u201d button should be clicked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/edit-group-clauses-button.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\"
