Despite that, you may want to add additional custom fields to fill out the profile. That is why <em><a aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/plugins\/jetengine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">JetEngine<\/a> <\/em><strong>Meta Boxes <\/strong>can be handy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/knowledge-base\/articles\/how-to-group-the-custom-meta-fields-for-the-certain-post-types-into-meta-boxes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Meta Box<\/a> <\/strong>allows you to add additional information to Posts, Taxonomies, or Users. It organizes all the created meta fields in one place and helps to manage them accordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"create-a-new-meta-box\">Create a New Meta Box <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<p>The first step is to add a new meta box. Go to <strong><em>JetEngine &gt; Meta Boxes<\/em><\/strong>, and click on \u201c<strong>Add New<\/strong>.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/adding-a-new-meta-box-2x.png\" alt=\"adding a new meta box\">\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"general-settings\"><strong>General settings<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/meta-box-general-settings-editing-full.png\" alt=\"meta box for users\">\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Meta Box Title <\/strong>\u2014 fill in this field with the desired meta box name;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Meta Box for <\/strong>\u2014 pick the option to which the meta box will be applied. In this case, it is \u201cUser\u201d;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u2018Edit meta box\u2019 link <\/strong>\u2014 toggle<strong> <\/strong>it on to display a gear icon during the user profile editing. It redirects you to the Meta Box Editor when clicked.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"visibility-conditions\"><strong>Visibility conditions<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two options in the <strong>Visible at<\/strong>&nbsp;selector:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Edit User.&nbsp;<\/strong>It adds meta fields to the&nbsp;<strong>Edit User&nbsp;<\/strong>page. Since only administrators can edit users, such fields became visible only to people with such a role;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Edit User &amp; Profile.&nbsp;<\/strong>This option adds meta fields to the&nbsp;<strong>Edit User&nbsp;<\/strong>page and the&nbsp;<strong>Profile Page<\/strong>, which users can edit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Meta boxes for Users have two conditions:&nbsp;<strong>Included for User Roles<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Exclude for User Roles.<\/strong> More about the&nbsp;<strong>Visibility Conditions&nbsp;<\/strong>you can read&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/knowledge-base\/articles\/meta-boxes-visibility-conditions-overview\/\">here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"meta-fields\"><strong>Meta fields<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Proceed to the <strong>Meta Fields <\/strong>tab and add as many user profile fields as needed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These <a href=\"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/knowledge-base\/articles\/how-to-create-a-custom-meta-field-with-jetengine-custom-meta-field-types-overview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">custom meta fields<\/a> will be added to the default WordPress ones. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/created-meta-fields-2x.png\" alt=\"created meta fields\">\n\n\n\n<p>After building the meta fields, save the meta box by pushing the \u201c<strong>Add Meta Box<\/strong>\u201d button. To check where meta fields are displayed, head to <strong><em>Users &gt; Profile<\/em><\/strong>. You can see the custom meta fields under the WordPress user profile fields. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/user-profile-location-full.png\" alt=\"user profile custom meta box\">\n\n\n\n<p>As we have chosen the \u201cEdit User &amp; Profile\u201d option in the <strong>Visible At <\/strong>drop-down<strong> <\/strong>while editing<strong> <\/strong>the <strong>meta box<\/strong>, the user can fill in this information without outside help. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"display-user-data-added-with-meta-box\"><strong>Display User Data Added with Meta Box<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<p>After creating a meta box, you can display all meta field data on the front end. There are three ways to display user metadata: <strong>User Listing Item<\/strong>, <strong>Single User<\/strong>,<strong> <\/strong>or a usual page. Let\u2019s check the first option: go to <strong><em>JetEngine &gt; Listings <\/em><\/strong>and find or <a aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/knowledge-base\/articles\/jetengine-how-to-create-a-listing-template-for-users\/#title2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">create a User Listing<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/listings-user-listing-item-2x.png\" alt=\"listings user listing item\">\n\n\n\n<p>Display the meta box data using widgets that can pull out the dynamic information.&nbsp;  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/dynamic-field-with-meta-field-in-user-listing-2x.png\" alt=\"dynamic field with meta field in user listing\">\n\n\n\n<p>As we edit the <strong>User Listing<\/strong>, let\u2019s place a <strong><a aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/knowledge-base\/articles\/jetengine-dynamic-field-widget-overview-how-to-use-filter-field-output\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dynamic Field widget<\/a> <\/strong>from the <strong><a aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/plugins\/jetengine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">JetEngine plugin<\/a><\/strong>. The essential thing in our case is to set the \u201cMeta Data\u201d option as the <strong>Source <\/strong>and choose the desired <strong>Meta Field<\/strong>. The following customizations are at your discretion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you are done editing the <strong>User Listing<\/strong>, click <span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">the \u201c<strong>Update<\/strong>\u201d button and check how the metadata works in real time<\/span>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/user-listing-frontend-2x.png\" alt=\"user listing frontend\">\n\n\n\n<p>Note that if you are trying to pull out the metadata on the usual page, you can do it with the help of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=LTLAKYfqYlo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Dynamic Tag<\/a> <\/strong>in the Elementor <strong>Text Editor<\/strong> widget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/text-editor-settings-full.png\" alt=\"text editor settings\">\n\n\n\n<p>Select the <strong>Field <\/strong>you want to display and the <strong>Context<\/strong>. Don\u2019t forget to update the page after editing. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"additional-use-cases-of-metadata\"><strong>Additional Use Cases of Metadata<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"create-a-query\"><strong>Create a query<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can set a query for users. For instance, it can be a selection by location. Add location to all the needed users. You can choose any other fields for these purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After you have updated the changed users, proceed to <strong><em>JetEngine &gt; Query Builder<\/em><\/strong>. Add a new query by clicking on the similarly named button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Give the query a name and set its type to &#8220;Users Query.&#8221; Head to the following <strong>Users Query<\/strong> customizations. Edit all the desired settings or skip them, as the&nbsp;<strong>Meta Query<\/strong>&nbsp;is the preferred option in this instance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/query-builder-users-query-2x.png\" alt=\"query builder users query settings\">\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Field key\/name <\/strong>\u2014 use the meta field name you want to set a query for;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Compare <\/strong>\u2014 choose an action that will be carried out;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Value <\/strong>\u2014 set the field you want to query;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Type of information <\/strong>\u2014 determine what data will be stored in the<strong> <\/strong>field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>When you type in all the needed fields, push the \u201c<strong>Add Query<\/strong>\u201d button to save the results and navigate to the page for which you want to attach the query.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/listing-grid-custom-query-2x.png\" alt=\"listing grid custom query settings\">\n\n\n\n<p>For instance, you can enable the query to work with the <strong><a aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/widgets\/listing-grid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Listing Grid<\/a><\/strong> widget. Select a Listing that contains user information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Toggle <strong>Use Custom Query<\/strong><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">,<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>then select the newly created query to display users by&nbsp;<\/span>location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/real-estate-agents-from-london-frontend-2x.png\" alt=\"real estate agents query by location frontend\">\n\n\n\n<p>All the users who have set their location as London are now displayed on the page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"use-metadata-in-the-jetsmartfilters-widgets\"><strong>Use metadata in the JetSmartFilters widgets<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, note that you can filter users by metadata.
