JetEngine<\/em><\/a> Relations Builder<\/strong><\/a> allows you to set connections between Custom Post Types<\/strong><\/a>, Custom Content Types<\/strong><\/a>, users, and taxonomies<\/strong><\/a>. And now, as a part of the refactored relations feature, you can filter related items with the help of the JetSmartFilters<\/em><\/a> plugin. In this tutorial, we will focus on setting up a filter with the related items source to filter related items.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Create a Filter<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In this guide, we have the relations between two CPTs<\/strong>: \u201cDepartments to Services\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will then filter the list of services by department. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, proceed to WordPress Dashboard > Smart Filters > Add New<\/em><\/strong>. Enter the Filter Name<\/strong> and select the multiple-choice Filter Type<\/strong> (in this case, choose the \u201cSelect<\/a>\u201d option).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Define whether the filter will be hierarchical by enabling the Is hierarchical <\/strong>toggle. In the Data Source<\/strong> dropdown, select the \u201cPosts\u201d option. Add the Placeholder <\/strong>if needed. Select the needed Post Type<\/strong> (\u201cDepartments\u201d in our case). The Is Checkbox Meta Field<\/strong> toggle should be kept disabled. Define the post in the Include\/Exclude<\/strong> field, if needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Query Variable <\/strong>field, click the Dynamic Tag<\/strong><\/a> icon, select either the \u201cJetEngine: filters children items list by parents IDs\u201d or \u201cJetEngine: filters parents items list by children IDs\u201d option (in this case, we select the \u201cJetEngine: filters children items list by parents IDs\u201d option).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the newly opened pop-up, select the needed Relation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keep the \u201cEqual (=)\u201d for the Comparison operator<\/strong>. Click the \u201cUpdate<\/strong>\u201d button once you are ready.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
