This means you don&#8217;t need to worry about forgetting to do it.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-backup-a-wordpress-website-using-a-plugin\">How to Backup a WordPress Website Using a Plugin<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<p>Many <a href=\"https:\/\/crocoblock.com\/blog\/best-wordpress-backup-plugins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WordPress backup plugins<\/a> are available, and most work similarly. It doesn&#8217;t matter which plugin you choose if it works and regularly backs up your website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ll use <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/updraftplus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">UpdraftPlus<\/a> in this tutorial, it is the plugin that can automatically do full backups of the website for free. Here is a step-by-step guide for backing up the website with this plugin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"install-the-updraftplus-plugin\">Install the UpdraftPlus plugin<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In the WordPress Dashboard, go to <strong><em>Plugins &gt; Add New<\/em><\/strong> and search for <strong>UpDraftPlus <\/strong>and select the plugin, click <strong>Install Now<\/strong>, wait for it to install, and click <strong>Activate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading style-title-numecal\" id=\"set-up-remote-storage\"><strong>Set up remote storage<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Before you do any backups, first set up the remote storage. Go to<em> <strong>Plugins &gt; Installed Plugins<\/strong><\/em>, and under UpdraftPlus, click <strong>Settings, <\/strong>followed by the <strong>Settings <\/strong>tab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the remote storage section, select your preferred storage service. You need to authenticate with that service, and instructions are given within UpdraftPlus for each service.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then you can choose which files you want to include in the backups and whether to receive a backup report sent to personal email address.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click <strong>Save Changes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading style-title-numecal\" id=\"do-a-manual-backup\"><strong>Do a manual backup<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Click the <strong>Backup\/Restore<\/strong> tab and click <strong>Backup Now<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A message will appear with some options for you to select. Make sure that the database, files, and remote storage are all checked, and click <strong>Backup Now<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It might take a bit of time for the backup to complete, depending on the size of your website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading style-title-numecal\" id=\"set-up-scheduled-backups\"><strong>Set up scheduled backups<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Click the <strong>Settings<\/strong> tab again, and use the dropdown menus to choose how often you want the files and database to be automatically backed up. Also, enter in a number for how many backups to retain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click <strong>Save Changes <\/strong>once you are done.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-restore-wordpress-website-from-a-backup\">How to Restore WordPress Website from a Backup<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<p>If the website breaks, you can restore it from one of the recent backups. All you need to do is go to the <strong>Backup\/Restore<\/strong> tab, scroll down to the <strong>Existing Backups<\/strong> section, decide which backup to restore, and click <strong>Restore<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Select which components to restore. If you are unsure, select them all to be safe.
