With the Glossaries functionality<\/a> available from the JetEngine <\/em>plugin, you can forget about filling in the same fields numerous times to use them on your WordPress website. Let\u2019s find out how Glossary can be used in the custom fields. <\/p>\n\n\n

Things to know<\/div>

Mind that except for the described case implemented in the Custom Post Type<\/a>, you can use Glossary data source for Custom Content Type<\/a>, meta boxes<\/a>, and options page<\/a> fields.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

You can use Glossaries to fetch data for the Select, Checkbox, and Radio fields. We will take a look at all of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To begin, we proceed to WordPress Dashboard > JetEngine > Post Types<\/em><\/strong>, open a post type and scroll down to the Meta Fields <\/strong>tab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here, press the \u201cNew Meta Field<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Select Field<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Complete the fields needed for the customization at the beginning: fill in the Label <\/strong>and Name\/ID <\/strong>fields. <\/p>\n\n\n

The Name\/ID<\/strong> field should be completed with a value containing only Latin letters, numbers, and \u201c-\u201d or \u201c_\u201d characters.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Pick the \u201cField\u201d Object type <\/strong>and \u201cSelect\u201d Field type<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Activate the following Get options from the glossary <\/strong>toggle. It allows you to use Glossary as the data source for the created field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\"select\n\n\n\n

In the Glossary <\/strong>field, choose the needed item to get the values from. For instance, we use the \u201cDoctor\u2019s Branch\u201d glossary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can also make the adjustments in the following fields. Press the \u201cUpdate Post Type<\/strong>\u201d button and proceed to the field in the post. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\"the\n\n\n\n

On WordPress Dashboard, open the Custom Post Type to which you added a meta field with Glossary <\/strong>data source. Add a new post or open the already built one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Head to the Settings <\/strong>tab and find the newly created meta field. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this Select field, pick one needed option and press the \u201cPublish\/Update<\/strong>\u201d button at the top right corner of the page to save the changes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\"select\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Checkbox Field<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Repeat the starting steps as described for building the Select field. In the Field type<\/strong>, pick \u201cCheckbox\u201d to create a field where several options for selecting are allowed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, mind switching on the Get options from the glossary <\/strong>toggle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\"checkbox\n\n\n\n

After activating the switcher, pick the desired Glossary <\/strong>and work on the rest of the fields if customization is needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t forget to press the \u201cUpdate Post Type<\/strong>\u201d button to save the created meta field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\"the\n\n\n\n

Head to the post of the edited post type to find the created meta field. Now, in the Settings <\/strong>tab, you can pick several options from your glossary in the field to attach them to the post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\"checkbox\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Radio Field<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The starting steps from the Select field creation can also be repeated for the Radio field. Just mind changing the Field type <\/strong>value to the \u201cRadio\u201d option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Get options from the glossary <\/strong>toggle is also present here; activate it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\"radio\n\n\n\n

Choose the desired Glossary <\/strong>from the drop-down list, adjust the following fields and push the \u201cUpdate Post Type<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\"the\n\n\n\n

Open the post of the just-edited Custom Post Type <\/strong>and scroll down to the Settings <\/strong>tab to find the new radio meta field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here, you are welcome to choose one option from the listed glossary ones and press the \u201cUpdate<\/strong>\u201d button. <\/p>\n\n\n

Things to know<\/div>

You can always return to the posts to change the picked variant(s). The same is applied to the previously described Select and Checkbox fields.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n\"radio\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Use Case Example<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After attaching options to the post, you can always show them to the website users on the front end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this purpose, in the described case, we have used JetThemeCore <\/em>and its Single page functionality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the Single page, the meta field can be displayed with the help of the dynamic widgets available in the JetEngine <\/em>plugin or with the JetElements\u2019 <\/em>Headline <\/strong>widget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After implementing the changes, press the \u201cPublish\/Update<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\"glossary\n\n\n\n

Now, check the result on the front end by opening any post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\"glossary\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
