The \u201cGlossary\u201d Data Source<\/strong> can be used only with the \u201cSelect<\/a>,\u201d \u201cRadio<\/a>,\u201d and \u201cCheckboxes list<\/a>\u201d Filter Type<\/strong>.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

If you pick the \u201cCheckboxes list\u201d option, check the following settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mind picking the \u201cJetEngine Glossary\u201d Data Source<\/strong> and needed item in the Select glossary <\/strong>field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you may notice, the Query Variable<\/strong> field is obligatory for completing the filter settings. Here, you should put the Name\/ID<\/strong> value attached to the glossary meta field<\/a> of the Custom Post Type<\/a>, Custom Content Type<\/a>, options page<\/a>, or meta box<\/a> (the object you are working with.)<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

For instance, look at the presented example. In this case, we take the Name\/ID <\/strong>from the Custom Post Type <\/strong>settings, the posts of which we want to filter eventually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The same steps should be taken if you want to build a \u201cRadio\u201d filter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You are also free to create a \u201cSelect\u201d Filter Type<\/strong> to cover the glossary options in a drop-down menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, we will take the \u201cCheckboxes list\u201d Filter Type <\/strong>as an example for the described use case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Push the \u201cUpdate<\/strong>\u201d button to save the changes made to the filter.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Add Filter to the Page<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Navigate to the <\/em>WordPress Dashboard > Pages <\/em><\/strong>directory and open\/add a new page to place the filter on it. Pages can be either made with Gutenberg, Elementor, or Bricks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, let\u2019s open the Elementor-edited page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here, find and place one of the needed widgets onto the page: Checkboxes<\/strong>, Radio<\/strong>, or Select Filter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We pick the newly created filter in the Select filter <\/strong>field and define its provider in the This filter for <\/strong>field: as we want to work with the Listing Grid <\/strong>widget, it will be \u201cJetEngine.\u201d However, you can use any other filter provider<\/a> if needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can optionally proceed to the other customization tabs of the filter widget. For the Checkboxes Filter <\/strong>widget, these are Additional Settings <\/strong>and Indexer Options<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We want to show the number of available posts next to the filter options, so we go to the Indexer Options <\/strong>tab and activate the Apply Indexer <\/strong>toggle. Then, we activate the Show Counter <\/strong>toggle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For now, in the editor, we can\u2019t see the correct counter next to the item. However, the indexer will work properly on the front end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you want to use an indexer with your filter based on the glossary, ensure that the Field Value<\/strong> of all the glossary fields may contain only lowercase Latin letters, numbers, \u201c-\u201d and \u201c_\u201d symbols to separate words, no spaces. Otherwise, the indexer will not work.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Next, we add a Listing Grid<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>widget to this page as it will serve as a provider for the filter.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Customize the page if desired and press the \u201cPublish\/Update<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Check the result by opening the page you have just edited on the front end. The glossary items are now available for selection in the filter.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, if you have adjusted the indexer, you will see the counter next to the filter options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
