With the help of the Save as separate fields <\/strong>feature, you can save every repeater field item<\/a> as a separate field in the database. Therefore, the data stored in repeater fields can be organized and displayed on your website as needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s check how this feature helps organize the content for a medical center website.<\/p>\n\n\n

This tutorial is based on the Medcenter dynamic template<\/a>.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Let’s imagine that the medical center is holding a symposium of doctors from different hospitals around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Different hospital teams can travel to this event, each consisting of one to fifty members. So, we need to use repeater fields as we don’t know the exact number of participants but require their names, passport numbers, and positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the Save as separate fields <\/strong>feature<\/a>, the added content can be queried according to the added information, including repeater sub-fields. For example, we want to display the teams that include specialists with the \u201cSurgeon\u201d position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s check how to adjust such a use case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adjust Post Types<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

At first, we go to the WordPress Dashboard > JetEngine > Post Types <\/em><\/strong>directory to create a Custom Post Type<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We give it a name (\u201cRegistered Teams\u201d), adjust its settings, and move the Meta Fields <\/strong>section to add some meta fields<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To add a meta field, press the \u201cNew Meta Field<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Initially, we add a \u201cText\u201d field<\/a> called \u201cWebsite\u201d and a \u201cClinics logo\u201d \u201cMedia\u201d field<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, we add a \u201cRepeater\u201d field<\/a> called \u201cParticipant.\u201d Among its sub-fields are three \u201cText\u201d fields: \u201cName,\u201d \u201cPassport No,\u201d and \u201cPosition.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every time you need a new sub-field, press the \u201cNew Meta Field<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also activate the Save as separate fields<\/strong> toggle to save all the repeater field items in separate fields in the database.<\/p>\n\n\n

If the Custom Meta Storage<\/strong> toggle in the General Settings <\/strong> tab is activated, the \"Save as separate fields\" option of the Repeater<\/strong> <\/a> meta fields is not available.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

With the Save as separate fields<\/strong> toggle activated, every sub-field will be stored separately, but there will also be one more field storing all items together as an array. Thereby, you can work with every \u201cRepeater\u201d sub-field separately or with a whole field if needed.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Save the post type by pressing the \u201cAdd\/Update Post Type<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Fill in the Posts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Now, head to the just-built post type and add the needed amount of posts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For instance, we added three posts for three teams correspondingly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To edit the post, hover over the item and click the \u201cEdit<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the post editing, we also adjusted the repeater fields. We added participants, their passport numbers and positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To save the changes, press the \u201cUpdate<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If desired, you can create a JetFormBuilder<\/a> form with the help of which the content can be added<\/a>. If adjusted, the representatives of the clinics can register their teams and participants using a form. Build a Query<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Head to WordPress Dashboard > JetEngine > Query Builder <\/em><\/strong>and press the \u201cAdd New<\/strong>\u201d button to build a new query<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This query is needed so we can later display only clinics with surgeons in their team delegation in the listing template. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We set the \u201cClinics with Surgeons\u201d Name <\/strong>and scroll down to the Posts Query <\/strong>tab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the General <\/strong>tab, we select the \u201cRegistered Teams\u201d Post Type <\/strong>to fetch the data from there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Open the Meta Query <\/strong>tab. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There, press the \u201cAdd new<\/strong>\u201d button to adjust a meta query.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Set the Field key\/name <\/strong>for the repeater sub-field. In our case, \u201cparticipant_position.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n

The Field key\/name<\/strong> should consist of the repeater field name, \u201c_\u201d symbol, and repeater sub-field name because this is how the database's meta keys are being formed.
\nIn the given case, \"participant_position\" (field-name_subfield-name).<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Then, we pick the \u201cEqual\u201d Compare <\/strong>operator. You can also use the “Contain” one if the position may consist of a few words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, we set the Value<\/strong>. We want to pull out the teams that include participants with positions set to \u201csurgeon,\u201d so we insert it in the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Press the \u201cAdd Query<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Create a Listing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Now, we go to WordPress Dashboard > JetEngine > Listings\/Components <\/em><\/strong>and press the \u201cAdd new listing<\/strong>\u201d button to create a new listing<\/a> based on the above query.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the given case, we create a listing template with a \u201cQuery Builder\u201d Listing source<\/strong>, specify the built Query <\/strong>(\u201cClinics with Surgeons\u201d in our case,) complete the Listing item name<\/strong>, <\/strong>and set its Listing view <\/strong>to \u201cElementor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Press the \u201cCreate Listing Item<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We fill in the template with the needed content. In our case, it is the Dynamic Image<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>widget that displays the clinic logo and two Dynamic Fields<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>with the team name and their website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All the data in the added widgets is pulled from the meta fields we created earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once ready, press the \u201cPublish\/Update<\/strong>\u201d button to save the listing template.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Place a Listing on the Page<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We want to display the listing on the page, so we move to WordPress Dashboard > Pages <\/em><\/strong>and press the \u201cAdd new<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For instance, we will work with the Elementor Page Builder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Add a Listing Grid<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>widget to the page. Select the just-built Listing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
