The product attributes are a useful pre-made tool of the WooCommerce<\/em> plugin that allows for creating product variations by adding product-specific characteristics (i.e., such as size and\/or color). Each attribute can include some terms (i.e., the color attribute can include the \u201cGreen,\u201d \u201cBlack,\u201d \u201cWhite,\u201d etc., terms).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Create<\/strong> <\/strong>Attributes<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Navigate to the WordPress Dashboard > Products > Attributes<\/em><\/strong> tab and type the attribute\u2019s Name<\/strong>; the Slug<\/strong> field will be inserted automatically. <\/strong>Then, in this case, we keep the Enable Archives?<\/strong> toggle disabled and leave the default  \u201cCustom ordering\u201d Default sort order<\/strong> option. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, press the \u201cAdd attribute<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this tutorial, we created the \u201ccolor,\u201d \u201cfeature,\u201d \u201cimage,\u201d \u201csize,\u201d and more attributes <\/strong>with the corresponding names; the slugs were added automatically.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Configure the Attribute\u2019s Terms<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After pressing the \u201cAdd attribute<\/strong>\u201d button, the new attribute will appear in the list. Click the \u201cConfigure terms<\/strong>\u201d link on the right near the appropriate attribute to be redirected to the Edit attribute<\/strong> page. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here, type the Name<\/strong> of a new term, Slug<\/strong>, and Description<\/strong> (optionally). Once completed, press the \u201cAdd new (attribute name)<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this way, create as many terms as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For instance, we created the following terms for the \u201ccolor\u201d attribute: \u201cBlack,\u201d \u201cBlue,\u201d \u201cBrown,\u201d \u201cRed,\u201d and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Assign the Attributes and Terms to Products<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Navigate to the WordPress Dashboard > Products > Add New<\/em><\/strong> path. On the Add new product <\/strong>page, type the product\u2019s name instead of the \u201cProduct name\u201d text in the corresponding field and scroll down the page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Select the \u201cVariable product\u201d in the Product data<\/strong> drop-down list. After that, move to the Attributes<\/strong> section under this drop-down. Here, type some characters in the \u201cAdd existing\u201d search bar to find the needed attribute or create a new one by pressing the \u201cAdd New<\/strong>\u201d button. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this tutorial, we added the \u201ccolor\u201d attribute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the next step, fill out the attribute Value(s)<\/strong> field to add the required term(s). If you need to add all created terms, click the \u201cSelect al<\/strong>l<\/strong>\u201d button under this field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this case, we added the \u201cBlack\u201d term to the attribute Value(s)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, leave the \u201cVisible on the product page\u201d <\/strong>option checked to make the attributes shown on the product page and the \u201cUsed for variations\u201d option checked to use the attribute for product variations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, once completed, click the \u201cSave attributes<\/strong>\u201d button to save the changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
