In this tutorial, we will go through the process of adding filters to the WooCommerce <\/em>shop page sidebar step by step.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the described case, we will work with the Astra <\/em>theme\u2019s sidebar; however, you can use any other popular classic theme that supports sidebars.<\/p>\n\n\n

At this stage, JetSmartFilters<\/i> works only with classic themes (e.g., Astra<\/i>, OceanWP<\/i>, GeneratePress<\/i>, Blocksy<\/i>, Kava<\/i>, etc.) Block themes are not supported for now.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Build a Filter<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

First, go to WordPress Dashboard > Smart Filters > Add New <\/em><\/strong>to build the needed filter. You can select any preferred Filter Type<\/strong><\/a>; for example, we create a \u201cSelect<\/a>\u201d one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adjust the filter settings. In this case, we select the \u201cTaxonomies\u201d as the Data Source<\/strong> and \u201cProduct feature\u201d as the Taxonomy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once the filter is ready, press the \u201cUpdate<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Customize the Sidebar<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Now, head to the WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets <\/em><\/strong>tab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here, find the WooCommerce Sidebar <\/strong>tab and unroll it.<\/p>\n\n\n

Things to know<\/div>

If a theme does not provide a WooCommerce Sidebar<\/strong> tab, you can use the default sidebar instead.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Initially, we will add a Heading <\/strong>block with the \u201cShop by\u201d text.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, add the filter block. In our case, it\u2019s the Select Filter <\/strong>block accordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the General <\/strong>settings, pick the just-built filter in the SELECT FILTER <\/strong>dropdown and the \u201cDefault WooCommerce Archive (Classic)\u201d option in the THIS FILTER FOR <\/strong>field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adjust the following settings fields if needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once all the desired blocks are added to the section, press the \u201cUpdate<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Set Up Compatibility with Pagination<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Now, you should go to the WordPress Dashboard > Smart Filters > Settings <\/em><\/strong>directory and open the Compatibility <\/strong>tab. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here, pay attention to the Pagination Container CSS Selector <\/strong>and Pagination Item CSS Selector<\/strong>. You can read more about these settings in the Compatibility<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>chapter of the Filters Overview<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you work with Astra <\/em>as we do in this tutorial, there is no need to change the values added in this field by default.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although if you work with other themes, ensure to change the values to the needed ones. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To check what values should be added to these fields, go to your Shop Page<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here, open the Developer tools <\/strong>of your browser and select the pagination container to check its class. For example, in our case it\u2019s \u201cwoocommerce-pagination\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Copy and paste it in the Pagination Container CSS Selector <\/strong>of the Compatibility <\/strong>settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, on the Shop Page<\/strong>, select one of the pagination items and copy its class as well (here, \u201ca.page-numbers\u201d). Return to the Compatibility <\/strong>tab and paste the class in the Pagination Item CSS Selector<\/strong> field with the container class before it, so it looks like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adjust Shop Page<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You can also adjust the Shop Page <\/strong>appearance if you haven\u2019t done it before. To do so, go to the WordPress Dashboard > (Your Theme Name) > Customize <\/em><\/strong>page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the opened customizer, proceed to the WooCommerce <\/strong>and Single Product <\/strong>tabs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Here, customize the layouts and other available settings, and when ready, press the \u201cPublish<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, you can open the Shop page <\/strong>on the front end to check the result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
