Things to know<\/div>

The Custom Post Type (CPT)<\/a> is one of the JetEngine<\/i> features used to organize the website content.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Create a CPT<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Initially, head to WordPress Dashboard > JetEngine > Post Types<\/em><\/strong>. Press the \u201cAdd New<\/strong>\u201d button on the Custom Post Types List<\/strong> page to create a new post type.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After that, you will be redirected to the page with the post type\u2019s settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Configure the CPT settings<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Here, insert the Post Type Name<\/strong> (the \u201cPopular Tours\u201d text, in this case). The Post Type Slug<\/strong> will be generated automatically based on the CPT<\/strong>\u2019s name (the \u201cpopular-tour\u201d, respectively). Now, let\u2019s add a link for the Custom Post Type<\/strong> editing page from the post page. You can do it by enabling the `Edit post type\/meta box<\/strong>` link <\/strong>option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A link to the Custom Post Type<\/strong> editing page will appear after adding a meta field to the CPT<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, proceed to the Labels<\/strong> tab and insert the needed data. In this case, we type the \u201cTour\u201d value in the Singular name<\/strong> field. After placing the cursor in the other field of the tab, the text from the Singular name<\/strong> field is inserted automatically (e.g., the Edit Item<\/strong> field is filled out by the \u201cEdit Tour\u201d text) to other Labels <\/strong>fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, move to the Advanced Settings<\/strong> tab. Here, we keep the default settings without changes.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scroll the page down to the Meta fields<\/strong><\/a> tab and add the needed ones. Here, we add the \u201cName,\u201d \u201cPhoto,\u201d \u201cTour Details,\u201d \u201cTour Plan,\u201d \u201cPlaces You\u2019ll See,\u201d and \u201cDays\u201d meta fields.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After that, if needed, unroll the Admin Columns<\/strong><\/a> and Admin Filters<\/strong><\/a> tabs to create additional columns and corresponding filters to display and filter the meta fields with listed data on the backend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this case, we create the \u201cAuthor\u201d Admin Column<\/strong> and \u201cAuthor\u201d Admin Filter<\/strong> that will display the information from the \u201cAuthor\u201d meta field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, press the \u201cAdd Post Type<\/strong>\u201d to create the CPT<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Add a New Post<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s check what our new Custom Post Type<\/strong> looks like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Head to the WordPress Dashboard and press the name of the newly created post type. There are no posts created yet. Let\u2019s add one now. As we have changed some labels, the button for creating new items is called \u201cAdd New Tour<\/strong>\u201d in the described case. By default, it is displayed as \u201cAdd New Post<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Press the corresponding button to open the editing page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fill out the added meta fields. Once completed, press the \u201cSave<\/strong>\u201d button to publish the post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Manage the Post via the WordPress Dashboard<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Once created, the post is displayed in the WordPress Dashboard. Here, you can manage the created posts, view them, or delete them. Also, if you have adjusted Admin Columns<\/strong> and Admin Filters<\/strong> in the settings, you can observe them here now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
