With WooCommerce<\/em>, you can build different types of products: simple, grouped, external\/affiliate, and variable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can use the \u201cVariable Products\u201d option if you need to show different sets of one product on your WooCommerce<\/em><\/a> <\/em>site and enable the customer to choose the product in a certain color or complexity.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, you have one type of dress in various sizes and colors. Here is where the \u201cVariable Products\u201d option comes into play. From this tutorial, you\u2019ll learn how to use it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Creating Variable Product<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

First, navigate to the Products > Add New<\/em><\/strong> screen on your WordPress Dashboard<\/strong>. Here, you can create a new product. Type in the Product name<\/strong> and add all the necessary content as you usually do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Product data<\/strong> block, select the \u201cVariable product\u201d option in the drop-down list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Name <\/strong>field, type in the attribute\u2019s name (e.g., \u201cSize\u201d) and fill in the attribute Value(s)<\/strong> (e.g., \u201cS,\u201d \u201cM,\u201d \u201cL,\u201d \u201cXL\u201d). Please use the \u201c|\u201d<\/strong> separator to separate attribute values. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leave the Visible on the product page <\/strong>option checked on the product page option to make the attributes shown on the product page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, leave the Used for variations<\/strong> option checked to use the attribute for product variations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, let\u2019s add one more attribute by clicking the <\/strong>\u201cAdd new<\/strong>\u201d button. In our case, it will be \u201cColor\u201d with the following options: \u201cHeather Grey,\u201d \u201cMedium Brown,\u201d \u201cPastel Grey,\u201d and \u201cPink.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After everything is done, click the \u201cSave attributes<\/strong>\u201d button to save the changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, let\u2019s proceed to the Variations<\/strong> tab. Here, you can add variations to the product.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Click the \u201cGenerate variations<\/strong>\u201d <\/strong>button to create variations from all the added attributes, or press the \u201cAdd manually<\/strong>\u201d button to create variations manually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the \u201cDo you want to generate all variations?<\/strong>\u201d notice appears, click the \u201cOK<\/strong>\u201d button. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After that, you\u2019ll see different variations according to the attributes you\u2019ve created.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can select the Default Form Values <\/strong>displayed once the product is opened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next step is to click the \u201cEdit<\/strong>\u201d button next to each variation. A new section with the settings of the selected product will expand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or, press the \u201cExpand<\/strong>\u201d button to open all the variations settings at once.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can also press the \u201cRemove<\/strong>\u201d button to delete the variation if needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here, you can add an <\/a>S<\/a><\/strong>KU<\/strong><\/a> (short for the \u201cstock-keeping unit\u201d \u2014 the product code that allows you to track a product for different purposes) to the variation, upload an image to show the variation to customers, change the product variation’s regular price or sale price, select its stock status, weight, and dimensions, pick a shipping class, and fill in the variation description.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note that if you don\u2019t fill in the Regular price <\/strong>field for each variation, the uncompleted variations will not be shown in your store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, it doesn\u2019t mean you need to enter prices for each product manually. If you want to set the same price for all variations, you can click on the \u201cAdd price<\/strong>\u201d button to set regular prices for all the products with the unfilled Regular price <\/strong>field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lastly, click the \u201cSave changes<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
