Helena Ivanova

WordPress Educator

Helena is a technical writer specializing in business logic, WordPress extensibility, and complex digital products. With over 14 years of hands-on experience deep in the weeds of freelance WordPress website development, she looks for what’s actually going on beneath the surface.

Her background spans around a decade across product marketing, digital marketing, journalism, and a detour into tourism. She worked as a travel guide and tourist manager for four years, including guiding tours through the half-life stillness of Chornobyl. Later, she spent six years in publishing, becoming editor-in-chief of glossy travel magazines where style mattered, but clarity mattered more.

Her path may be a bit zigzaggy, as she follows curiosity and passion for travel, history, and geography, collecting places and experiences, like a proper millennial. And now, she is focused on staying up to date with evolving technologies, tools, and digital trends — and keeps a close eye on where web development is heading, preferring to stay a step ahead of it.

In between all that, she unwinds with piano and guitar, navigates French and Norwegian with varying confidence, and is always happy to spend time with dogs and cats.
