This June, eight members of the Crocoblock team traveled to Basel, Switzerland, to attend WordCamp Europe 2025 – the largest annual WordPress gathering in the world.
A charming city on the border of France and Germany, Basel became the meeting point for thousands of developers, designers, product makers, and community enthusiasts who live and breathe WordPress.
For us at Crocoblock, it was a rare and valuable chance to meet our users in person, exchange ideas with partners, and feel the heartbeat of the community we support every single day.
Let’s take you behind the scenes to see what it was like.

Crocoblock on Stage
One of the proudest moments of the trip was seeing our CEO, Anna Gurko, take the stage to share thoughts on a topic that hits close to our core: support. Her presentation, “Building Support as Core of Product,” resonated with many in the audience who view support not as an afterthought but as a foundation to product development, marketing, and long-term health.
Anna shared Crocoblock’s internal vision as a company that puts support not at the end of the user journey, but at its very core.

WordCamp Impressions
First-time experience
Our Community Manager, Victoria Bormotova, attended her very first WordCamp and summed up the spirit of the event perfectly:
“It’s one thing to support users online, and a totally different feeling to meet them face to face. Hearing honest feedback, sharing laughs, and even debating plugin workflows reminded me that behind every ticket, there’s a real person who uses our tools to build something meaningful.”
Beyond connecting with users, Victoria also had the chance to meet other community professionals and exchange insights on growing healthy, engaged WordPress communities.

Where conversations become real
“WordCamp Europe always feels like more than just a tech conference – it’s a place where the WordPress community truly comes to life.” – Lana Miro, Partnership Manager
For Lana, who attended WCEU not for the first time, it was another reminder that the WordPress community is unique. The handshakes, the shared jokes, the spontaneous brainstorms – these are what make WordCamp Europe unforgettable.

When borders disappear
“For me, the main value is live communication – the opportunity to hear interesting thoughts and ideas, and to learn how people live and work.” – Olha Aksamytna, Marketing Specialist
Olha observed how WordCamp Europe dissolves traditional boundaries between countries, roles, or even companies. Everyone is equal here. Everyone is working toward the same goal: making the web more open, accessible, and empowering.

The market is changing, and WordPress adapts
“The WordPress market keeps evolving, growing steadily despite new challenges, especially from modern no-code tools.” – Michael, Marketing Manager
Michael shared his thoughts on how the ecosystem is evolving. It’s also worth noting that key sponsors WooCommerce, Automattic, and WP Engine were missing from this year’s event, a potential indication of larger shifts in the platform ecosystem. Shopify appears to be winning the battle in the eCommerce plugin arena, but as Michael mentioned, WordPress has weathered bigger storms than this.
For him, WCEU 2025 still scored a perfect 5: great food, memorable parties, strong networking, and a community that continues to inspire.

Takeaway
If we had to sum up WordCamp Europe 2025 in one word, it would be: people. The users who build incredible things with our plugins. The new friends who have just discovered Crocoblock. The partners we’ve worked with for years, and finally got to meet for a coffee.
We came back from Basel feeling inspired, recharged, and more connected to this global community than ever before. Thanks to everyone who stopped by, waved hello, or shared feedback – we loved every moment of it.
Were you at WCEU too? We’d love to hear how your experience went. 😇
